Beschreibung des Events: 8Y7 - Isabel Anders & Lázara Rosell Albear feat. George Espichicoque
With the duo titled „8Y7″, formed by the half-Cuban artists Lázara Rosell Albear (drums) and Isabel Anders (piano), they aim to merge traditional Cuban rhythms with composition and free improvisation, developing and reinterpreting them. The project is inspired by the Afro-American Yoruba mythology, which includes theatrical performances featuring specific instruments, drumbeats, chants, and dance steps. The Cuban percussionist George Espichicoque worked extensively in theater, with a particular focus on folklore. He presented several projects on Afro-Cuban folklore, including at the House of World Cultures and the House of Global Workshops. Furthermore, he was involved in the first Capoeira Academy, where he taught various genres such as Rumba, Cha-Cha-Cha, Son Cubano, Salsa… Together they are bringing the rich tradition of Afro-Cuban culture to the stage in new forms for the first time as a trio.
