The duo "8Y7", consisting of the half-Cuban artists Lázara Rosell Albear (drums) and Isabel Anders (piano), aims to fuse, develop and reinterpret traditional Cuban rhythms with composition and free improvisation. The project is inspired by the Afro-American Yoruba mythology, which includes theatrical performances with specific instruments, drum beats, chants and dance steps.
Cuban percussionist George Espichicoque has worked extensively in the theater field, with a special focus on folklore. He has presented several projects on Afro-Cuban folklore, including at the House of World Cultures and the House of Global Workshops. He was also involved in the first Capoeira Academy, where he taught various genres such as rumba, cha-cha-cha, son cubano, salsa... Together they bring the rich tradition of Afro-Cuban culture to the stage in new forms for the first time as a trio.
