Description of the event:

Salzgeber Filmverleih presents:
“Barbara Morgenstern and the Love of the Cause” - a film by Sabine Herpich (Germany 2024, 108 min.)

Film premiere & concert.

Barbara Morgenstern, pioneer of lyrical electro-pop, is working on a new album. The first lyrics and harmonies are created in her apartment. During rehearsals with her band, she refines the arrangements. This is followed by recordings in the legendary Berlin Hansa Studios, press photos, the design of the album cover, a first music video, and tour planning. In the background, there are questions: How experimental can the album be, how political should it be, in what format can it be presented live? At the end, Morgenstern is on stage to play the new songs for her fans for the first time, the songs from "In anderen Licht".

With a friendly, calm gaze, director Sabine Herpich (“Art comes from the beak as it has grown”) follows Morgenstern’s artistic work process in her film, from the first intuitive ideas to the live performance. The album is created because the individual voices listen to each other. As if by chance, the intimate portrait of an artist for whom music is a place of retreat, comfort and friendship develops – and the means of choice for reflecting on one’s own position in the world. A film about the love of the subject. (Poster credit: Salzgeber Filmverleih)

And after the film, we look forward to a special live concert with Barbara Morgenstern & Ensemble to round off the evening!

The album documented in the film “In a different light” will be brought to the stage with Josa Gerhard (violin), Alice Dixon (cello), Berit Jung (double bass), Christian Biegai (saxophone) and Sebastian Vogel (drums).
