Description of the event:

Japanese pianist Rieko Okuda together with trombone legend Conny Bauer. Two of the most radical voices in improvised music. The Youth Resistance Museum is the place to be!

Conny Bauer, born in Halle an der Saale in 1943, is a renowned trombonist and pioneer of improvised music. After studying trombone in Dresden, he discovered jazz and developed his unique style in Berlin. Since his first solo performance at the Peitz Festival in 1974, Bauer has fascinated his audience with innovative sounds and polyphonic wind techniques that became known as "Conradisms". As an internationally recognized artist and founding member of the "Central Quartet", Bauer has expanded the boundaries of improvised music and is considered one of the most radical and original voices in this genre.

Rieko Okuda is a Japanese pianist and composer with an impressive musical career1. Her journey began with classical music and led her through jazz and free jazz to improvised and electronic music. After studying in Japan and the USA, she settled in Berlin, where she works with renowned musicians and participates in experimental festivals. Okuda's work includes collaborations with dancers and electroacoustic compositions, with her first electro-acoustic solo album "Paranorm" released in 20181. Her diverse musical experiences and residencies in electronic music studios have shaped her unique style, which combines classical elements with contemporary improvisation and electronic sounds.
