Description of the event:

With THE ROOM OF UNEASE The media artist and photographer shows Julian Kirschler the pressing social and political conflict areas of the present.

Within the sacred space, installation, photography, 3D animation, AI-based visuals, and specially composed soundscapes merge to create a multifaceted experiential space that doesn't rely on distance but engages the viewer physically and emotionally. The exhibition's starting point is Kirschler's ongoing series of works. THE ROOM OF UNEASE, which resulted from his installation realized in 2022 In Nomine Patris emerged; an artistic exploration of abuse of power within church structures.

In the Galilee Church, this theme is expanded and updated: Power, violence, manipulation, conspiracy theories, hate speech, war, and the erosion of democratic values They are presented as interwoven phenomena. Kirschler's works deliberately operate within the tension between aesthetics and discomfort. Highly aesthetic images and precisely choreographed soundscapes contrast with the content being addressed – and thereby intensify the unease.

The church space is not merely used for performances, but semantically charged: as a site of moral negotiation, historical guilt, and social responsibility. Central to Kirschler's artistic practice is the claim of a multisensory, barrier-free access.

Through soundscapes heard via headphones and different media levels, an individual perceptual situation is created for each visitor. THE ROOM OF UNEASE It is thus understood less as an exhibition in the classical sense than as a space for experience that invites self-reflection and critical engagement with current power structures and worldviews.
