The feedback orchestra FBO was founded in Berlin in 1999 and consists of 8 electric guitarists who work exclusively with feedback. The music of the FBO is very concentrated and meditative on the one hand, but at the same time has a very impressive physical presence that often leads viewers to draw comparisons to various forces of nature. It is a steady and slow rolling stream of vibrations, friction, swelling and subsiding walls of sound in which tones and harmonies constantly attract, break and find each other again. In addition to all the contemplation and quiet moments, this is often performed at great volume.
The orchestra is always arranged in a circle to ensure that the players are in as close contact as possible. The listeners can move freely around this circle and listen to the music from the most advanced position. The orchestra plays primarily in unusual locations with special acoustic, architectural or other features. The respective space always flows clearly into the freely improvised piece, and impressive moments of mutual influence arise (another feedback).
The FBO now has a permanent team of guitarists who have been making music in Berlin for decades in various bands and projects. For example, Ziguri, Knochen=Girl, Midget, Golden Showers, Mutter, Schneider TM, Metabolismus, Ilse Lau and many more. (Photo: Udo Siegfriedt)
