Composer Hakan Kursun, born in Hanau and now living in Istanbul, brings his latest work, "Klangweg Hanau," to Berlin for the first time. In a solo set for piano, guitar, voice, and electronics, he explores themes such as migration, democracy, and social coexistence.
The compositions were created as part of a sound installation of the same name in Hanau's public space, which opened in 2024. Kursun describes his instruments symbolically: the piano represents the past, the synthesizers the present, the guitar the future, and the singing the human being.
Critics cite Kursun as a milestone in the psychedelic music scene in Turkey. In addition to his artistic work as a producer and sound researcher, he also works as a university lecturer and runs a studio for spatial music in Istanbul. His concert at the Galilee Church marks his Berlin debut.
