The band Hunger, consisting of Christoph Rothmeier and Jörg Hochapfel, has existed since 1996, first on Lake Constance, then for a long time in Hamburg and finally in Berlin.
Previously known in the music world for their “abstract pop studies with a Dadaist touch” (taz) and “nervous disco-punk rumbling” (Tagesspiegel), in recent years they have moved on a somewhat quieter, but no less disorienting musical terrain between stumbling exotica and out-of-tune fake folk, with synthesizers, home organs, theremin and self-made instruments.
They present their brand new album “Trikotin,” consisting of eight pieces improvised and subsequently refined in a secret French studio.
Since the search for a suitable recording medium was unsuccessful, the music is now available in the most practical and versatile format imaginable:
as a 36-page, lovingly risographed music book!
To celebrate this release in style, Hunger has invited five highly talented musicians to interpret these many notes together, which will surely lead to unheard-of results!
Hunger:
Christoph Rothmeier (Die Lampe, Kröter) – drums, synthesizer, theremin.
Jörg Hochapfel (Bruchgold & Koralle, Onom Agemo & The Disco Jumpers, Palais d'Amour) - keyboards, guitar.
With the “Harmonie de St. Tricotin” orchestra:
Fabiana Striffler (violin), Uwe Haas (bass clarinet), Anna Viechtl (harp), Kalle Zeier (guitar) and Isabel Rössler (double bass).
