Mohammad Mostafa Heydarian was born in 2002 in Kermanshah in western Iran – the home of the Tanbur, a lute with a tradition dating back over 5000 years. The mystical music of the Yarsan, with which Tanbur played and ritually passed on, shaped his childhood. Even as a child, Mostafa began to study the old Maqams intensively, inspired by his father, a Daf-player and tanbur builder.
In his father's workshop, he immersed himself in this music every day and learned from renowned teachers. Later, he developed a musical friendship with the French musician Valentin Portron, which also resulted in Mostafa's first album Songs of Horaman (2021/22), which received much international recognition.
With his second album Noor-e Vojood (2023, "The Light of Existence") presents Mostafa with a new maturity: recorded in just two days at the legendary Bell Studio in Tehran, it is a testament to his creative power and spiritual depth. Mostafa sees his music as a light and a message of love, intended to provide comfort and hope in times of unrest and uncertainty.
At this concert he will be performing with the Tanbur ancient Kurdish-Persian traditions come to life – in an incomparably personal and at the same time universal language.
