The 9th edition of the Soundwatch Music Film Festival is in the Galiläakirche with the documentary “Sound Dreams of Istanbul” followed by a live performance by Velvele.

Inspired by a dream, the musician and filmmaker returns Anil Eraslan He returned to Istanbul to make a film with his Istanbul musician friends. He invited them to articulate their sonic dreams and stage them as musical performances in unconventional urban settings.

From Ottoman Turkish music to electronic sounds, from free improvisation to noise, Istanbul's avant-garde music scene offers a phantasmagoric glimpse into a city between dream and reality.

This visual polyphony oscillates between the longing for Istanbul's vibrant musical past, now faded by the exodus of musicians, and the fresh energy to create new sounds and build a different future.
