MONA MUR IN CONVERSATION
(Berlin Film premiere + concert)
A Film by Dietmar Post: MONA MUR IN CONVERSATION (Berlin Film premiere)
Mona Mur was a protagonist of the German underground of the early 1980s, but always flirted with big Pop. During her career, she has travelled through a wide variety of musical genres, from Post-Punk-Industrial to Electronic Music, experimental Guitar Music and orchestral Walls of Sound. – Mona Mur’s early albums have now been re-released and this unique film by Dietmar Post provides a great opportunity to give Mona Mur the chance to talk and comment in depth about her musical career as a musician, composer and producer from a very personal perspective. The documentary approach of the film focuses on inspiration and situation, it is a kind of „committed remembrance“.
+ Concert: MONA MUR – Les Chansons Brutales
with Johannes Roloff, piano, and Gary Schmalzl, electric guitar (Geschwister Pfister, Bela B., Thurston Moore)
For the first time live in her new Trio line-up, Mona Mur presents LES CHANSONS BRUTALES – a dark blue sparkling live program consisting of unreleased special versions of songs mainly off her notorious orchestral opus magnum WARSAW as well as her solo albums DELINQUENT and LES CHANSONS BRUTALES with exclusive lyrics by “Radical Eye” poet Miron Zownir. Together with her exquisite musicians, Johannes Roloff and his virtuoso piano play and guitar master Gary Schmalzl, they forge a darkly romantic sound, a surreal, elegic, cinematic. Painting – as cruel as life, as tender as the night.
MONA MUR IN CONVERSATION is presented by play loud! productions and Soundwatch Music Film Festival Berlin as the closing film of their 2024 edition.
Door: 19:00 (no presale)

Pankisi Ensemble
Music of Kists, Chechens of Georgia
Pankisi Ensemble returns to Berlin for the second time—don’t miss this rare chance to hear a unique group from one of the most remote areas of the Caucasus. They preserve and develop lesser-known Chechen vocal and instrumental genres, including epic legends like „Illi,“ Sufi chants, and love songs.
Members:
- Bela Mutoshvili: voice, accordion
- Lana Gunashashvili: voice, pondar (Chechen lute)
- Linda Gunashashvili: voice
- Mariami Bagakashvili: voice
The ensemble balances traditional authenticity with bold performances. Influenced by both Chechen and Georgian music, they represent the distinct and shared cultures of the Caucasus. These young musicians evolve while maintaining the integrity of their sound, avoiding trends like „ethno-fusion.“
