Jörg Hochapfel: Piano, compositions; Isabel Rößler: Double bass
Jan Leipnitz: Drums
The brand-new combo led by the pianistic virtuoso Jörg Hochapfel brings together three seasoned musicians, seasoned in every style, who embark on a strangely erratic journey between bebop, boogaloo, kitsch, free jazz, and minimalism—modernly old-fashioned, opulently brittle, and occasionally even questionably danceable. And in doing so, they prove that deep, dark melancholy sometimes comes with a wry grin.
All three are of course already well-known figures in the Berlin scene: Jörg with his surreal quartet Bruchgold & Koralle, the strange ambient duo Palais d'Amour and the musical boundary explorers Hunger, Isabel with Flut, OBSiDiAN, Rupp/Rößler/Hall, Trespassing Rooms, SORBD, the Brad Henkel Quartet, the Red Color Trio and the Omniversal Earkestra, and Jan with (among others) Gebhard Ullmann, Allan Praskin, Larry Porter, Henrik Walsdorff and Alexander von Schlippenbach.
