Since 2017, Berlin singer Danja Schilling and noise musician Ronald Gonko have been collaborating under the label ANGSTBLÜTEN. ANGSTBLÜTEN is a term borrowed from botany that describes the particularly beautiful blossoms of a plant that then dies.
ANGSTBLÜTEN succeeds in creating a synthesis of the seemingly incompatible. The place and the current situation determine the format in which voice and noise, atonal and/or tonal, take place. ANGSTBLÜTEN can thus be read as a metaphor for the specific sound aesthetic that emerges from these opposing and apodictically side-specific performers. Vocal parts of high cultural provenance meet noise improvisations.
ANGSTBLÜTEN are symphonies of a big city, each one different. For the Galilee Church in spring 2025, the location- and time-dependent themes are obvious: Rigaer Straße? Church? Space? Sound? - Resistance! (Photo: Jan Sobottka)
