ANYX is the solo project of Berlin-based composer and performance artist Anna Lucia Nissen, working across experimental songwriting, electronics and live performance.
Originally trained as a sculptor, she gradually shifted her practice from physical objects towards voice and performance. While her materials have changed, she continues to sculpt songs with the same attention to form, space and resonance.
Starting with voice and language as her primary material, she builds visceral performances in which voice and melody move between fragile intimacy and full-bodied intensity. These songs unfold through drone atmospheres and sculptural staging, moving between concert, ritual and performance art. Pipe organ, piano, synthesizers and processed field recordings shape these songs, while drones, looping percussion and shifting textures surround them.
Her debut album Starlink — supported by Initiative Musik and released via La Rubia Producciones — explores themes of alienation, ecology and transcendence through sculptural songwriting, drone atmospheres and minimal instrumentation.
For the album release concert, ANYX presents music from Starlink alongside her solo repertoire. The evening also features guest appearances by harpist Andy Aquarius and lap steel guitarist Kristof Hahn (Swans) on selected songs from the album.
Recent performances include appearances at Volksbühne and KW Institute for Contemporary Art, as well as supporting These New Puritans at Lido Berlin and Circuit des Yeux at Kantine am Berghain.
Andy Aquarius is a multi-instrumentalist, harpist and composer creating atmospheric works between ambient, folk and experimental music. Centered around Celtic harp and voice, his music unfolds through mystical folklore, improvisation and immersive sonic landscapes. - His acclaimed debut album Chapel introduced a deeply intimate approach to harp music, described by KEXP’s Alex Ruder as a “transcendental journey through the outer realms of ambient, classical and folk music.” Recent releases including Golla Gorroppu, Forest Grimoire and Holy Glade further explore themes of nature, solitude and spiritual resonance. - Andy’s live performances are marked by peaceful intensity and rich atmosphere, moving between delicate vocal passages, lyrical harp expressions and meditative instrumental improvisation.
Sometimes With Others consists of Mika Bajinski (vocals, guitar), Marie-Claire Schlameus (cello) and Kristof Hahn (lap steel guitar), who always enjoy performing live in various line-ups, including as a duo. In November 2020, they released their debut album and returned in 2023 after a three-year hiatus with music that hinted at a headlong direction – a sort of Kraut-Doom tempered by the weight of Bajinski’s voice. With their fluid sound, based entirely on string instruments, they weave a delicate web that transports the listener into a world of cinematic associations fuelled by the subconscious. A foretaste of a long-forgotten romance, a stroll in the night.
Kristof Hahn’s music ranges from abstract cinematic soundscapes to elegant rock’n’roll noir songs. He is best known for his lap-steel guitar playing in the New York experimental rock band Swans. - Hahn’s approach to the lap-steel guitar is less rooted in tradition and more oriented towards drone, creating vast soundscapes that sometimes erupt into sonic thunderstorms and at other times resolve into ethereal melodies.
